    Cool You're Grounded

We have been discussing the Downadup worm in another thread; it is also known as Conficker.

London, Feb 08: A virus attack on French military computers has grounded the nation's naval fighter planes after pilots failed to download their flight plans, media reports in France said.........Though Microsoft had warned several months beforehand that the "Conficker" virus, transmitted through Windows, was attacking computers, media reports claimed the French military ignored the warning and failed to take the necessary measures
    Merde alors!

The Houston court system was affected by it as well. Sucks to be in jail right now without your bail bonds man having the ability to bail you out

Lets not just pick on the French here....

The U.K. Ministry of Defence reported that some of its major systems and desktops are infected. The worm has spread across administrative offices, NavyStar/N* desktops aboard various Royal Navy warships and Royal Navy submarines, and Hospitals across the city of Sheffield reported infection of over 800 computers.[17][18]

MLF, the French are irrelevant, it is the fact that one of their (albeit relatively minor) military units has been operationally compromised, rather than just infected, that was my concern.

This interests me, because I cannot see any logical connection between the French Naval Air Arm and the Houston courts system?............unless, of course, the Texicans are taking delivery of a guillotine and Negative has been keeping this secret from us?

I wonder if, in certain circumstances, this worm inadvertently screws up resident systems? I do not believe that the outage was a result of taking systems off a network to prevent reinfection. That could be a worry for aviation, maritime and public health outfits to name but a few?

In the case of the French Navy, it apparently prevented their flight plans being downloaded. I do recall a Korean passenger jet getting shot down over Russian airspace because moving it whilst the flight plan was being downloaded screwed up its navigation?

As for the Royal Navy there really is no problem:

Officials added that no system handling information graded higher than Restricted had been affected at all.
I have an office stapler on my desk that I liberated from "somewhere in England" and it has a Restricted sticker on it...........it is the equivalent of "Company Confidential" to us commercial and institutional types.

Then you have Secret, Most Secret, Top Secret and finally UK Eyes Only........... which means "Johnny Foreigner can't look at our pr0n collection"

I guess my real concern is for commercial aviation systems, as they seem by far the most vulnerable package.

He set the place on fire, living one of my many many dreams involving fire, and mr Mondays found it at the end when he was cleaning up the rubble.

Is it just me or is he running a Mac at the beginning and then tries ducking out early and waits for it to get to a C: prompt and turns off the monitor? I never quite understood that part.
