Shuttle fleets and Enterterprise retiring in 2011/2
I wonder how realistic that is ?

The fleet currently consists of two types:

VH3D (entered service 1978)...............these are the ones the President uses.
VH60N (entered service 1989) ............... shuttle craft used by aides to carry luggage etc.

The intention was to replace them with the VH71 between 2008~2014. A total fleet of 28 machines being proposed. This had an original budget of $6 billion but current estimates are running at $11.2 billion.

In my experience, when a project slips that much on cost the timeframe has usually gone south as well.

It isn't there now, but that site did have a still image of one of these plans. You could make out that it was for a VH60N, which the President doesn't personally use.

I agree, I only get mine from Microsoft direct. I don't trust third party site links to this kind of thing, there have been too many exploits.

The article mentioned the file sharing programs, well NBC reported this evening how ID thieves are using those programs to steal tax & social security info big time.
Unfortunately also that many people share the same computer. You can have the latest virus and adware scanner but you are still vulnerable to 0-day exploits and the weakest link, a user. In a way, the report taught people how to do this in the comfort zone.

Oh o.... Our US Navy is in trouble. The above link to the video was removed. In the meantime, Washington responds with their followup video. That video was picked up by CNN and other big sites. It's getting bigger coverage.

    Cybersecurity chief Beckstrom resigns:

The U.S. government's director for cybersecurity resigned on Friday, criticizing the excessive role of the National Security Agency in countering threats to the country's computer systems. Former Silicon Valley entrepreneur Rod Beckstrom said in a resignation letter published by the Wall Street Journal it was a "bad strategy" to have the National Security Agency, which is part of the Department of Defense, play a major role in cybersecurity.

Beckstrom headed the National Cybersecurity Center, which was created last March to coordinate all government cybersecurity efforts and answers to the Department of Homeland Security.

I have several associates on this aircraft carrier. Too bad this is old news but history always repeats itself.

Behind the Kitty Hawk Incident (Updated)

Several readers have given me all kinds of grief for not posting about the USS Kitty Hawk incident. My apologies -- I didn't feel like I had a whole lot to add to the story, about a Chinese Song-class sub shadowing an American carrier group.

The In From the Cold intel blog has some insights, however. "Spook86" notes that America's sub-detection capabilities have been on the decline for a while, now.

What is this and why is this on the internet for everyone? I think it is fake. Our government telling us how to live forever _when_ you are picked. Look at the sponsor.
