    I.P Location in 2 countries

    217.113.76.242

This I.P location shows it's in Zambia and Belgium depending on which locator used.

The company "Celtelplus" is a division of Celtel phone company in Zambia(Now called ZAIN).
The strange thing is the I.P is from a country that has nothing to do with Zambia or Zain.

Does anyone have an ideas on why this is happening.
Is the I.P really in Belgium?

When i use "Tracert" it shows links thru the U.K but times out twice on the 2 hops before reaching this I.P.

217.113.76.242 (217.113.76.242) is located in Amsterdam, North Holland (province), Netherlands.

Antionline I.P locator shows another location.

It's registered (whois) to a Belgian ISP. The AS indicates it's in Belgium.

    IP locators are notoriously inaccurate.

    Greetz.

Just a quick note, but the AntiOnline IP locater that (JP - Original Owner) put together has been borked since day 1.

I was kind of hoping that when the site was aquired by "WebMediaBrands" that it may of been looked into and actually fixed..

But i don't think it is going to get the needed attention anytime soon..

    Web Media Brands?

You mean JupM, those lousy little domain squatters who bought off everything from AO to Ask-Jeeves... have infact been bought out themselves?

    Hi,

The company has its headquarters in Amsterdam, although its business is in Africa. I believe it was bought by the Kuwaitis a while back.

The AO IP Locator possibly worked to begin with, but was based on borrowed tables that haven't been updated for at least 5 years, so is now woefully inaccurate.

    Thanks for the help.

One point i don't understand is how does a user in Zambia have an I.P from Belgium?
I have checked by phone and spoken to the person to see if they are in Zambia and it is true.

Gateway communications is the ISP in Zambia.

Here is a quote from the user of the I.P
"Regardless of whether I use my X1 or storm phone my IP will always show the Belguim IP. Same happens when I use my gprs modem on my laptop."

A Belgian Telco using it's own network to supply Zambia?
