That doesn't work in this case. The "monkey" was only taken as an example because it has "fingers" so can type.

A cat has 4 paws and will hit multiple keys. Given this, I could accept that it might trigger a hotkey sequence but not navigate the internet. On the other hand, if I connected a monkey to Google it would doubtless get all sorts of results due to Google's fuzzy logic search capability.

I would accept that if you connect a dodgy P2P client to a dodgy P2P site then just about anything could hit you......trojans, viruses, p0rn bombs..........but that is not the defence here?

    1. If this was a random event triggered by the cat, I would expect to see a single self-extracting file. The guy is facing 10 charges.

    2. If this had happened more frequently then I would expect to see a whole load of random downloads, not all KP.

    3. Windows Key+L?

    4. If the guy knew it was there why didn't he delete it?

    5. If he didn't know it was there, then there will be no evidence that the files have been opened/viewed?

    6. Something led the police to him. I would guess ISP logs showing contact with other P2P users with KP on their hard drives.

He really isn't very smart.............they busted one of his little friends as early as April 1st 2009.

He's obviously desperate, trying to BS his way, hoping the
judge and/or jury has enough tech knowledge to understand
the jargon, but not enough to see how unlikely it really is.

In a case like this it would be better if the judge knew nothing
about technology at all and relied on "common sense"

"The dog ate your homework, eh?"

I like the way Nihil goes into great detail how a cat cant do this sort of thing , lol

I also found that kind of funny lol.

In their defense, Cat's are probably the most "Hacker" like of all pets people get. I mean, whatr other animal have you ever seen that will actually sit and figure things out and play with them?

I've found online while doing reading that someone was researching Cats as Animals and said they will actually "Learn" to open doors with levers and other things using trial and error to figure out a way to get out of a cage, and I thought it was interesting that they basically used the same problem solving skills people use when faced against setting themselves free from a cage of some sorts through trial and error.

Piranhas do have some basic skills, as do Ants (I've kept all three as pets) and I always thought when it came to insects, Ants were fairly interesting pets and that you could even help them learn.

If you buy an Ant Farm, take a Baby Aunt, and make an Island with Sand, and put the Baby on the other side. the Ants can actually figure out how build a bridge of Sand, and go across it to save the Baby.

I used to have a lot of different Ants as pets and always thought they were neat. Even the way they hunt and all that (I'd put a Fly in there and they would ambush it) and for Piranhas, they will almost sneak up and go after their food source. I had a full tank of Red Belly Piranhas as pets. They're really neat too.

Black Piranhas are smart too, they'll actually bite the air hose parts in half to make you put your hand in the tank to fix it. It's really amazing actually how they know that if they do that, you have to put your hand in there, and they can go after you.

You have to get a Glass Partition to fix things when you own one.

Thats because when people think "surest candidates for dying alone" they picture a household overrun with cats.
