    cell phone taping

Hey whats up every one. Lately I have been doing some research in to cell phone tapping for no particular reason but it seems interesting. I have been able to find a pretty decent amount of information about how its done and programs used to do it but nothing on how to detect it dose any one have any info on that?

I had to tape one of my old cell phones... the battery kept falling out. Do you prefer duct or electrical tape? Scotch tape works ok, but tends to get brittle quickly.

Based on a recent court case that went down over here, involving sunday newspapers I would say that you cannot "tap" a cellphone. The process is one of interception as the signal is broadcast over the ether.

I would say that provided your scanning/interception is passive it will be undetectable.

The guys over here got caught because they had information they could only have obtained illegally.

It's actually pretty easy. I usually don't talk about this, but it was pointed out a few years ago when someone posted to AntiOnline here that "Someone in Michigan" was insulting customers at fast food places in their "Drive Thru" by breaking into the signal used and insulting customers and other funny as crap things you can do with either a moded cell phone you've fniger hacked, or, with a CB radio tuned into their frequency.

Like once, at KFC, I got bored with a friend and his GF, and so we drove around for a few hours with a little transmitter, and I started getting sound from it, and realized it was the drive thru speaker box for KFC. We drove down the street and parked while I talked to people and pretended to take orders, and if they were those idiots I hated when I worked in fast food, I insulted them, and whatever else.

After being cheered on by employees of fast food for an hour or two, the manager came back and flipped out. We stopped after 3 hours, and at one point, while parked across the street, I told them we were in a van I could see full of old ladies, and, no bull, like 5 people from KFC RAN out there and CHARGED after the van and, after scaring the crap out of them, they realized I just said it. But since it was the only car in the parking lot they went back in and said no one else was out there.

A few weeks later and one news paper article later, we went back. This time, I said "HELP ME I FELL IN THE WALK IN FREEZER AND CAN'T GET UP!" I didn't think they heard me because I didn't get a response at first, but then like 5 minutes later, I hear "Cindy there's no one IN the Walk in!".... JackPot!

I come back on their head sets "YES THERE IS NOW HURRY UP I FROZE MY BALLS TO THE FLOOR AND CAN'T MOVE WITHOUT TEARING THEM OFF!".... The manager got mad and yelled at me, the employees who make minimum wage with no respect and get treated like dogs, basically pissed themselves laughing.

This went on for a few hours, and after a while they said they were going to "call the police and trace my signal and arrest me" and I hit them with the iron bar of reality that a signal like this can only be traced within a few hundred yards and they still wouldn't find me, they gave up and let the others have a laugh at how every customer told "Hold one moment please" and start ordering anyway which is annoying if you've ever worked in Fast Food, were told "No dip **** I said "hold on"!.... To which they drive away or cuss you out, which is funny.

One of the better parts is that ALL transmissions in fast food head sets are recorded. So this is even more funny because they can show their boss and his boss what happened, and, of course, being someone who's worked at these crap holes, I can tell you, they do laugh.

You may have noticed some places, especially here in Michigan, now say "NO CELL PHONES" in the Drive Thru, and you can thank me lol.

I also got bored once and made a sign saying "Sing Happy Birthday to the drive thru person and get a FREE MEAL! Today Only! ---The Management"..... I really should have brought a tape recorder with me.... You have NO idea how funny that is!

I taught 3 people how to do it but they all said it wasn't as fun without me back when was a little younger, a little more quick on the draw, and VERY ready to play a game of "Drive Thru insult".

I looked at it as a consultancy. I'm a Con Artist, and I like Insulting morons. CON Artist + InSULT = Consult =)

Anyway, for getting into a Cell Phone signal, this was easier a few years ago when a lot of people still had analogue phones, but today Digital and Tri-Mode are the norm, and so it's not as easy but not impossible. I mean really, a good Police Scanner will do the trick just fine. Works on Cordless phones too. Just hook it up, grab YOUR Cordless Phone, and turn a TV to channel 3, and wait. That's a pretty old trick which I haven't used in a long time, so it may no longer work, but on older TVs, you could let that Static no signal thing go on the TV on Channel 3, and put a Cordless Phone next to it, and it would start picking up calls.

Today, there are still options. No one really uses a cord phone now. And most Cable Boxes, have an IP Address, and by pressing a key combo on the TV remote you can open up the monitor and even see logs of the Cable Box, by using the Remote.

For example, Comcast doesn't like customers knowing how to read their signal, or see the configuration, or admin section of a cable box, which by pressing "All On + Power" REALLY fast, normally opens it right up anyway since most people won't figure that out (oops) because, why would you press a button to turn everything on then Power which would turn it off? lol It opens their little monitoring software to watch your signal and the strength of it, and of course, the IP for the thing.

Just be careful, if you uncap your cable modem (Which has a secret IP) or your cable box (Which does too) and start, say, ordering movies and making the traffic for that disappear, and get them for free, they will get mad!

I don't do that because I can get movie for free the legal way (Calling to say no one was home when it was ordered, and since they pre-program boxes and send USED boxes out as new, they'll tell you it was probably programmed to watch a movie or something and the techs must have missed it and they'll take it off your bill for you and say if it happens again let them know, and I know this, because no where in their EULA does it say you can't test a certain something they have hidden on their units. Also, if you get late charges, pay the bill off, and the next month say you're going to cancel and go with AT&T because you can't afford this bill, you'll get a discount and free HBO, like I have.

Oh and don't forget to complain about the net, we got an upgrade for free. I'm saving up another screw up they did, like when they screwed up the phone line in the house we got free digital, and then right now they're charging us for something we don't have to pay for, so when I call this week, I suspect our bill will yet again have a new discount.

We already don't pay for the boxes, which are legal, because their first on the scene tech was a moron and I had to help HIM set it up, and once I told their service tech, he wiped the bill. In fact, when we moved in, we didn't even GET a bill for a YEAR because they screwed our stuff up so badly, they kept giving us a discount to keep us, and from the phone not working for a month which was their fault, to the cable not working, to the net being crap at one point, we literally didn't see a bill for 11 months)...

Anyway, be careful, they do catch on eventually, but, in these cases I'm telling you about, I was in the right, so I got to keep my treasures lol.

By the way, don't be greedy with free movies; My cousin was taking my little book of tricks to get free porn at one point, because, as I said, they send you those boxes in a shiny new box, and they're actually USED cable boxes, which means any settings they had before, are STILL there, which means people do in fact get charged for crap they didn't order, like I have been, and so, a lot of the time, people will call and say it happened, and it did, so you get it taken off the bill. But if you get greedy they'll catch you and either cancel your account or charge you. Or, of course, you know, that whole legal thing. (That's crap anyway though, their EULA, which is written like a monkey was drunk with a crayon in his foot, has a lot of holes).

My Aunt was pretty shocked to learn that when she came home one day, there was a bill siting there with porn on it, ordered when my Cousin was at school, and no one was in the house, called them up. They said basically the boxes come from a factory that just resets them, and sometimes, they forget if they did a whole batch or not, so sometimes, if someone programmed it to order things, it would STILL order crap, after you hook it up, and charge you for it, by itself!

Now, I'm normally a law abiding guy for the most part, but if I'm going to get screwed with charges on my bill because they aren't doing their jobs, I don't think it's a big deal to have a few movies not charged on the bill once in a while lol. One of their techs knows I do it, and doesn't care. He even told his boss who said "Hell, the only time he ever calls is when we actually do screw up, and he always lets it go, and even helps us diagnose the problem, let him have a few flicks for free here and there, it's not like he's greedy about it". Kinda neat having a boss say "go ahead, you don't abuse that power anyway" on your side lol.

Yea, I'm a little off topic and all over the place in this post, but it's 6:30 AM and I'm still awake from yesterday, and very very talkative for some reason.

My favorite part was the drive thru hack. I laughed till I had tears in my eyes. The van of old women and falling in the freezer was just too funny.

You inspired me to tape a 'sing happy birthday' sign on the drivethru nearby. We waited for a little bit, but only had one customer drive through, and he didn't sing. Hopefully someone took the bait... :-P

Another fun one is to put up a sign that says 'Transmitter broken, please speak loudly'... that will get some funny responses.
