    Intel Server management Software

    Hey All,

Our Intel Server - MOBO - SHG2 started making a noise so we wanted to install some software to see if everything is working.

So I found out that this Intel Server management 5.0 software comes with it (I dont know if we had to purchase it on top of the hardware or not). I have some questions.

As I am new to this

    1. Is this the best software (Can suggest paid for otherwise freeware would be nice)
    2. The isntall jsut seems to hang on "the system is currently installing , please wait" for the past 4 hours. It doesnt look like it is hanging.

    Nothing in Events.

    Thanks in advance.

    OS: 2k3 32 bit
It runs WSUS on there and one internal app.

Manufacture software (Intel server management in this case) will often be the best suite to use, if the manufacturer has it available.

Other 3rd party apps may work, but cannot guarantee accurate readings - although if the app works, it can probably be trusted.

Intel software is free to download, your best bet is the manufacturer software, and any other support tools/utilities the manufacturer offers.

Apart from this, try MS Performance Monitor or other Operating System related diagnostics.

You havent recently installed Trend WFBS 6.0 by any chance have you?

Reboot the server, log on with a local account (if possible) and install software immediately. First stop unneeded services etc and stop any databases or exchange stores also. This may help.

    Well,

The two usual culprits for noise are the hard drives and the fans. Try to find out where the "noise" is coming from. You will probably not have much luck with diagnostics as HDD ones really only look at the data and the system will usually only tell you if a fan actually fails.

Is the sound constant or intermittent? Ensure the sound does not sound like an animal Maybe a snake has made a home inside your server
