What Happened?!?
Alright, I doubt I am the only one to notice AO not being available for most of the last week. It went down temporarily on Friday, but then came back up. Then Sunday... gone. Now that it is back up, my shakes are finally dying down, but I think I might have PTSD...
So........... What happened?

From what i was told directly.
there was a server breach last Friday, the permissions on the server weren't setup to the normal security policy.
So there's been a bit auditing taking place and a few internet.com sites were offline during the process.

Wow. Thought they finally pulled the plug on AO! I was out joining new computer forums - I set-up at bleepingcomputer.com and computerforum.com. Glad to see it's back up.
Hmmm. A computer security breach on a computer security website... I'm sure there's a lesson in all this... right? :P
Well anyway, glad AO is back online. I'm surprised not more people have posted about the downtime, even if it has been back up only an hour.

There was some old stuff on the server from when JP owned the site, that's where the problem lay. It's all been removed now.

Strange that the recent threads and this, coincided is it not?
Or am I being professionally cynical as usual?

No, and as a matter of fact, this is to be expected when a company deletes or edits some very entertaining and incitefull threads from users who've been here for almost a decade.
