Filtering by Mac address?
Is this the most secure way of locking down to a wireless router in everyone's opinion?

Not really. Very easy to listen for a mac address that is allowed and then spoof your mac address to gain access. Use WPA/WPA2 and use a mac address filter list.
Also, dont use WEP. It's plain text and as such trivial to break.
In God We Trust....Everything else we backup.

I would use WPA2 with mac filer and max 63 characters key, you can use this site to generate random keys.
