Yea. My Wife is back in school for a Medical Degree. And I've been looking for a job heh. For some reason those Enlightenment ones from E-17 on Slackware with PNGs showed up REALLY small. But the Enlightenment 16 ones were fine lol. Ah well.

Got a bunch of Window Maker lol.

Here is what my desktop used to look like. I made it all crazy and so much going on. It was cool to show to people who had never seen linux, but wasn't as good for every day use. So I switched to what I have now.

EDIT: I don't know if you noticed gore, but everyone seems to be looking at the first and last of each group of photos, and only a few look at every one. Just thought that was a funny tendency.

I noticed it before. I think it's click boredom. The first and last ones usually get more hits. Lol, the one I said was my Windows screen shot got more than the others.

edit: holy crap that is small... just looked at it... is that AO that shrinks it? It was full size when I uploaded it...

I didn't have any on mine either. Anyway, I have FreeBSD 8.0-RELEASE installed on my test box now.

It took a while because the machine I use as a test box is a POS.

    Specs:

Intel Celeron Processor @ 433 MHz
    192 MBs of RAM
ATI Video Card with 8 MBS Video Memory
    CD-ROM drive
It came with 64 MBs of RAM but I upgraded it, and it WAS my Mom's machine. It had a 9 GB HD in it, and one day my Mom was like "Hey, earlier, it was making this really loud grinding noise, and it sounded like...Well it sounded weird!"... I listened for a while and heard what sounded like a Disk Drive grinding (BOFH Music) and I said that the drive was going to go soon.

She had told someone at work they could have it but I said no and that they'd need a new hard drive in it, and they were NOT going to be running Windows XP on something like this, or games above DooM.

I decided I'd keep it, and I had got like 2 or 3 new Internal HDs I'd bought for extra storage on my machines, because I was thinking about installing them in two of my machines to have not only extra space, but also to have my Server set up going.

Well, after the 160 GB Drives had been installed (One I put in my FTP Server, which is the VERY first machine I EVER bought, it's an Intel Pentium 3 @ 733 MHz, came with 128 MBs RAM, I upgraded that to 384, and it came with a 43 GB HD, and I've formatted that drive like 200 times, and it's smaller, so I made it the secondary drive and mounted it as /storage and used the new one as / and then the other drive I popped in another machine, and I had that 80 GB drive sitting around and I wasn't sure what to do with it) Anyway, I grabbed the 80 GB Drive, and put it in my Mom's old machine, and started using it.

The machine still works fine, and so I use it. I know it's slow, but, seriously who cares? It's a Computer, it works, and I generally have it like this:

Partition 1 - 4 GBs / Windows 98 SE, basically because of my Magic: The Gathering game on CD that was made WAY back in the day, and it doesn't work on NT based OSs (The one they released after that did but I have the original) and then I'd dual boot with Slackware or something.

Well, recently I accidentally screwed up (After being awake for 32 hours, don't try to screw with a partition table or MBR, lol). I lost the Windows 98 Partition and everything on it.

It said the partition was fine, but when I loaded up cfdisk and looked, it said only 4 KBs were used.... And NOTHING showed up... In other words, I screwed it good.

So I decided "Oh well, just format the whole drive and get it going".

So I grabbed my FreeBSD 8.0-RELEASE CD, booted, and realized it only had docs on it and no Ports, so I did an FTP installation. A certain Port (Fedora Core's Core) was always failing, and I couldn't get through that to finish the installation, so I'm like screw it, and I installed just the base system, and started adding Ports I wanted from the bare bones installation.

So, I installed FreeBSD 8.0-RELEASE but only the bare bones, and then, from there, installed KDE, Gnome, Enlightenment, Window Maker, KDM and GDM, and a bunch of other stuff I wanted like an FTP Server and so on, and then, remembered I needed to install X itself because I'm like "WTF I can't get Window Maker to load... Hmm...That's weird...." And so I installed X, and then got my Mouse and Keyboard working, and then I got everything else working, and now, I have FreeBSD installed by itself on that machine.

So now I've got the box mostly set up, and updated the base system, and when I have some time, I'll get the ports updated too. I'm planning right now to use my test machine basically as a test box, and set up an FTP server on it, and I have SSH on it and Telnet for some other tests I want to do, and I'm going to partially use it also as an extra, though slow, desktop system to see what FreeBSD 8.0-RELEASE can do on that kind of crap hardware lol.

I can get some screen shots and pop them up on here, won't take but a few minutes when I get done with what I'm already doing on it.

Anyway, FreeBSD took a WHILE to install because I'd get the installation going, remember something else, and restart it. After 5 days I said OK that's enough! I'm grabbing something else! I grabbed FreeBSD 7.2 and installed, but I wanted 8.0-RELEASE.... So I got it installed finally, and set up, and now it's working great!

    I REALLY like it!
