Apple has always been overpriced in my opinion. You're paying a huge premium for OS X and the 'experience'. In my opinion, the Linux 'experience' is just as significant, which includes aesthetics similar to that of OS X, should you choose to make them that way, or better, when you make the visual appearances exactly how you want them. The problem is the average user is too afraid to install their own OS, assuming they even know how to burn an ISO. If you look strictly at a hardware comparison with pricing at an apple with any other notebook, you will see that apple is way over priced. But apple computers, from the viewpoint of the end user who doesn't have computer experience, 'just work'.

As far as Dell is concerned though, I never saw their computers as very high as far as quality is concerned. So I don't know what I would do if I had to choose between Dell and Apple.

In my opinion, if you want the stability and looks of OS X, without paying the money, just get Linux. Assuming you know how.

I know it seems like I'm all bout Linux, but I do use Windows on a daily basis as well, and I view the apple crowd as those who are looking for an alternative to Windows.

i have a dell inspiron. the dell just seems more like a laptop. it has better functions and apple doesnt work like a desktop. if you have an apple computer, i would go with apple. if you had anything other than apple then i would go with a dell. and all my friends that have apple hate it because of the memory and it will randomly crash or freeze, and i have never had a problem with any dell

Dell is my choice as well. It is reliable enough, easier to use and cheaper.

    Hi Shay,

I guess that what we should tell the people is that if you buy Apple, you are locked into their hardware and software?

With a PC of any brand, you will have more flexibility?

Actually, I would go with Toshiba with Win 7. What I am going to get next. This toshiba is 7 years old and still on the original battery. Of coarse I calibrate the battery from time to time.

I believe you may prefer the Dell with win 7. Special order from Dell website.
