Google Android Malware
Well, I suppose it had to happen? There is a new malware affecting devices running Android that surreptitiously sends texts to premium numbers......... a bit like the old diallers.
A malicious app that racks up charges on handsets running Google Android has been discovered.
Security firm Kasperksy Labs identified the app, which is thought to be the first of its kind.
The malicious software is disguised as a media player. However, once the 13KB file has been downloaded onto a handset, it begins sending text messages to premium rate numbers without the owner's knowledge or consent, "resulting in money passing from a user's account to that of the cybercriminals".

This sort of stuff has been around for ages, just with all these smart phones crooks are just making it automated. Were as you used to have to have actual physical access to the victims phone and change the default calling options to dial through the premium number.
You see these types of automated tools packed into ringtones/screensavers games etc on most of those free mobile sites. It's just amazing what people will click "OK" to just so they can play that cracked game they just downloaded onto there shiny new phone.
