Apple Tablet Event - Today 1PM EST

So, is anyone else as excited as the Wolfman regarding the Apple Tablet event today?

The latest rumor coming out of Twitter is: RT @dollars5: RT @buzzup: Apple Event to Focus on Reinventing Content, Not Tablets http://buzzup.com/n2p6

Could it be that we have all been tricked??

So a tablet was released. The iPad is already online at http://www.apple.com/

Not a bad piece of hardware, but is it really worth the pricetag of $499? It's really just a glorified iPhone.

I am not sure if I would consider getting one. I might wait until it is jailbroken, and then rethink my stance. :-P

I've seen all apple product launches and for odd reason, I'm not that excited.

    Sorry Wolfie,

I already have a sandwich toaster and an icecream maker up in the loft

To be honest, I wouldn't have any use for it, no matter how good it might be at what it does.

    Hey Nihil, my man,

You know what? The Wolfman *was* excited before the launch. But excitement quickly diminished as I saw what apple had to offer.

The iPad isn't all that exciting after all.... And I agree with you, I don't have much use for it either.

It will be interesting to see how it does on the market...

    Hey Wolfie!

What puts me off is the price! not that I am mean or anything, but for those bucks it has to jump up and hit me in the face with benefits and features?

Right now, all I can think of is that if I win the National Lottery, I will have one wall mounted in all three Johns

I am afraid that I am rather cautious with "new technology" when I suspect it is more based on marketing than functionality.

On a lighter and somewhat unrelated note, I was buying a few components the other day, and I noticed that the online store had some "special offers"

Yeah, I know................ so I got 4 of these 4-port USB hubs at £0.50 each...........hell that's only around $4 (CND)?..............excellent buy as it happens.

Then there were these "webcams" (USB) at £0.99.............. so I bought 2.
I met one of my fellow IT support types in the pub and traded one for a pint of beer (£1.90), I then set up a screen on the carpet in my living room............(with the other one)

My old tom cat came in and saw an "intruder" so he goes to give it some...........then he sees it is a computer screen........and the "intruder" does exactly what he does

I guess that he remembered me killing aliens back when he was a kitten and we lived down in London?..............every now and then he would go round the back to see if "Daddy had hunted something edible!")

Totally useless bit of kit, but at that price I got my money's worth in 10 minutes

But $500 is serious money..........not for a laugh?
