Back after 8 years!
Well all I'm back at the computer again and to be honest I'm almost a noob now. Most of my knowledge is obsolete and/or forgotten. Hopefully I can learn a lot from you guys and vice versa. Also remember "Dopers are hopers, boozers are losers."

I know the feeling. Technology changes so fast. I used to get on here a bit years ago, and only visited off and on from time to time. Now I'm back where I started :/

I was reading an Article a day or so back, they're saying that XP is starting to loose a lot of marketshare, and there seeing win7 & other OS's marketshare rise.

Ya know, ive noticed that from all the charts ive seen, linux usage goes up like .5% every year. I dont know if its actually because of the economy or if its the fact that any linux distro today is much easier to install than 10 years ago.

Hi mungyun,
I dont know if its actually because of the economy or if its the fact that any linux distro today is much easier to install than 10 years ago.
Funny that you should say that .............. I have just rediscovered 3 CDs from 1999.
Red Hat Linux 6.1, S.u.S.E. 6.2 and Linux Pro.................I am about to test them on a couple of Pentium II machines...........

Welcome back guys, Hopefully you will be a big shot of adrenaline from way back
I was reading an Article a day or so back, they're saying that XP is starting to loose a lot of marketshare, and there seeing win7 & other OS's marketshare rise.
I've been on xp for years, just recently got a new laptop with win 7 on it and really like it. Not sure why, maybe it seems a bit more stable - though I am much more knowledgeable now then when I first got an xp run computer in keeping a pc clean and running smoothly, but its probably a joint effort on my part and the new OS - also it seems more streamlined and up-to-date, not sure how to describe it but I like 7.
Blessings all and welcome back again, guys(gals?)

I am on Google a few times, only 98.7% of the results are me.

I have upgraded my Windows XP to Debian Linux back in 2003, and I have not needed to use Windows as my main operating system. I do use it in a virtualbox from time to time, so I can trouble shoot others PC's though.
Computers do not have problems, they have users.
