Need good parental software for Mac

My parents want to monitor my little brothers (5 year old) internet activity for a couple of weeks to check out who he talks to on IM and everything.
I suggested amackeylogger.com/family-keylogger-mac.html, but is there a better program?
If so or If not, is there any program you recommend?

Must be a clever child to be 5yrs old and already knows how to read/write & use IM programs.

Maybe implement a filter list on he's/her's user profile so that the child can only visit website's within an approved list.

This can be done via most routers in the settings area.

Or even the parent's/yourself could always just monitor them while they are using the IM programs.

most IM programs have an option to auto-save all chat logs into the relevant application folder. Just enable that also....

The best software is open source or at least, free.

You don't say what operating system the machine is running, but it looks like OS-X of some sort?

Is that his machine or yours?..............Windows apps will not work on a MAC and vice versa.

For a child of that age there is one simple solution that you should implement first..............make sure that the computer is in the family living area. Then you can actually see what is going on?

These days OS-X and Windows come with their own parental control applications, which you paid for with the operating system............check those out first before looking at some paid for snake oil spammed on an internet security site.

Placing the computer in an area to monitor the childs use and teaching the child how to use the internet and the how people and sites are not always what they seem to be, and basic security .........are the best practices.

Teach your children well and to make the right choices not only on the internet....in every aspect of life.

Wouldn't it be easier to just install responsibility? Ah well, when my kid gets old enough to use a Computer and "accidentally" finds his first porn site, I'm not going to sit there for 12 hours telling him how it's naughty because really, it'll be better than him "accidentally" finding Daddy's Stash.

What exactly are you responding to? There was nothing quoted, and the last reply before that was mine, but I don't think you were aiming at me, because I said fairly openly that "If MY KIDS" ever did so and so, I'd do this.... and I also made a small joke about net pron....

And as for that "instincts" thing; Don't forget that I'm a man. It's rooted in my DNA to protect my family at all costs. I'm a Married Man too. And I've on more than one occasion had those "urges" before the logical side of me said FINALLY "Hey, you'd have to rent a wood chipper, and a boat, and you'd STILL have to figure out what to do with the guy's head if you don't want to go to jail" so I'm very well versed in the arts of Defense, and defending what's mine.

Use the parental filters built into OS-X.

Don't use keyloggers. Seriously, just don't.
