    Website filtering at the browser

Do anyone ever try to put an end to a web site via the Restricted Sites options in the Internet Options + the Security Tab + Restricted Sites?

I asked because there was once a time I entered a website's address into that security zone, and subsequently visited the site to see how it works, and to my interest when I viewed the page, the graphic images were unreliable and unable to see. But then at another instance I tried to restrict a site and test it to see if the results would be the same, and it wasn't. Unfortunately, I can't remember it it was the same computer, the same operating system, or the Internet Explorer and it should have worked.

Is not a Security Zone, is a envronment where security is the number one factor of activity?

If you restrict a websites in the Restricted Sites security zone on the Security Tab of Internet Options in Internet Explorer, does the website you enter there suppose to function normally, if at all after applying it? If so, Internet Explorer can be better for internet users who are seeking to get rid of unwanted websites that are uneeded on the internet, primarily pornoghraphic websites.

Can somebody tell me how we can stop pornographic website on the internet?

Wouldn't it be cool if you enter web addresses into the restricted sites security zone, and the security zone delivered a stop to the web server housing the webpages? Primarily Pornograhic Webservers?

    Hi, and welcome to AO.

As far as I am aware, the purpose of the restricted zone is to limit the interaction that a particular website can have with your computer, rather than to block the site. In this respect it is quite likely that the site cannot display what might be potentially dangerous (to your computer) material.

If you want to block a site or sites you should look at the "parental controls" feature or REPUTABLE third party software, such as is used by schools, libraries and the like.

Don't visit them?........... sites that get no traffic pretty soon die.

Parental control software will achieve this to a greater or lesser extent; depending upon how you set it up. The restricted zone is not intended for this purpose, as I have already mentioned.

Please remember that "pornography" is in the eye of the beholder. Laws vary from country to country, opinions from person to person, and that anything interfering with the actual operation of someone else's website, other than blocking it from YOUR computer, at your computer, is illegal in most countries.

/And we don't allow commercial advertising on this site unless you pay for it /

Nihil is correct, the restrcited sites stop interaction with your PC ( active X, javescript blah blah).

I think you are looking for content advisor.

Alternatively you can blockit via DNS and/or your router.

Im running a netgear DGN 2200 and I can blacklist sites.

IMO it is much easier to block websites at the router level especially top level domains such as xxx, info, cn, biz, ...

That would be true of a workplace environment where pornographic sites shouldn't even be a problem. Unless it was a career limiting one for human remains (HR)

Over here at least, people tend to get pretty "fundamental" routers from their ISPs as part of their package. Not many of those give much information or control at the router level.

    /me sighs

OpenDNS -> it's free, it works, it's customizable. It's O.S. independent which means it works on iPod touch, iPads, Droid Tablets, Mac's... whatever.

Lock down HOST and network config settings and you're all set.

Personally I quite enjoy the pr0n sites. After all, pr0n is the reason the Internet was invented. That and a place where we can all bitch about the movies we don't like.
