Aahh that reminds me. It was infact disabled awhile back for a bug issue.

I'll send of a request to have it looked into.

Thought it was re-enabled for the different usergroups again, as it enabled for mod/admins atm.

It will never work because it has been designed like a market research questionnaire and is monodimensional.

If I had been obliged to design it in this format, and after "their throats had been prised from my cold dead hands" (sorry Mr. Jefferson) I would have had 3 green stars, three red stars, and one grey star as the default value.

At the moment, a thread that has been rated as garbage looks better than one that hasn't been rated at all. With my method you would immediately know that grey was unrated, green was above average and red was below average.

There used to be a paperback called "The Use and Abuse of Statistics" (Penguin or Pelican) that dealt with all this sort of thing very clearly.

Personally, I don't think that rating a thread is that valuable, as it is very much dependent on your interest in the subject. To me rating individual posts would be more useful.

Whilst I would admit to being a rabid hater of hacking proprietary software, I have to say that some of the old system's hacks were rather clever and well thought out, in terms of functionality and user appeal.

New feature: If a user is banned the site should automaticly display their username, email, password, what pages they've visited here, what browser they used, ect...

This way users here can abuse this information for trolling purposes. For example, checking if the forum's passwords also work on their email addresses.

At the very least people could use it as a shared blacklist on their own sites.

We should also have a web based proxy up. Then remove the ads and put it there instead.

Thirdly, web based tools to scan for vulnerabilities on other sites. The results are logged and displayed here. Aggregate findings and exploits the way exploit-db does. We should also mirror defacements.

Most importantly, we need to get rid of all reference to snake-oil security related products. All downloads should somehow aid people in intrusions... not make half-assed attempts to prevent them.
