Password for what?
BitLocker? TrueCrypt? Dual boot system?
Real security doesn't come with an installer.

Sorry for lack of details.
I'm looking for the password to the user account on partition of C drive.
Is there a program that can find it?
There are only two user accounts.

There are hundreds of applications that can break the password, but unless you *need* to break it, I'd suggest either bypassing it or resetting it.
Password reset:
http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/
Password bypass:
http://www.thelead82.com/kon-boot/
Passsword Recovery:
http://www.oxid.it/cain.html
http://www.openwall.com/john/
http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/
Real security doesn't come with an installer.

IF you have anything encrypted or tied into the password, you need to break it rather than resetting it... think of a keychain on OS X... Same concept.
Real security doesn't come with an installer.

Hi Info AU, what Winders version have we here? and, as Doppy said, what password for what?
As Windows administrator you can change any user password in Windows, even just having the box for an hour or so and I could do that anyways.....and I would have had time for a couple of stubbies down the pub first!!!
So, if you have password protection for a partition (encrypted or otherwise) it is presumably a third party application?..............which one?
Once again, as Doppy says, is it a password protected file, folder, or what? and is it also encrypted?

thanks
I was in the middle of nowhere in rural Zambia and i had to wait to get home to Australia to download the file.
Then found i had to set bios to read from CD drive before hard disk so it worked.
It took only 14mins to get the password easy.
Thanks for the help as i can now recover the username password.
Ophcrack works wonders on Vista.
Lesson learned.
