UAC is it good or bad

ive been hearing differing opinions about user account control ,some people say its not effective because it doesn't really stop the program itself ,others swear by it,whats your opinion

It does stop programs AND it asks the users if they want to continue or not... Getting users to make the correct choice is a whole other battle

UAC is not considered a security boundary. but it is a very import part of defense in depth. I actually turn it to the highest level and run with only user rights......

One misconception about UAC is that it doesn't let you do certain things, or that it locks you out of your own computer. In fact, UAC doesn't prevent anything. All it does is inform you when a program requires administrator access.

A UAC prompt not only reminds you that what you're about to do has system-wide consequences, even more importantly it prevents malicious software from silently installing without your knowledge.
