How stupid is this?
I got a new computer and it had a sleep button and an infered device thingy. And neither were hooked up to the mother board.
I know that they were both supposed to be connected and both were supposed to work because i eveen asked the store. They said, if you wanted to use either of the devices...you had to hook them up yourself. so if you dont know anything about hooking them up you'd have to pay a fee for someone to do it for you

LOL LOL LOL
Well first off sleepmode is a pain in the a$$ because your computer will sometimes not come back from it. As for the infrered thingy <--Technical term i guess....LOL Most likely that is for a digital output for digital sound using fiber optic cable which is extra.

(Flame mode)
Most likely that is just a typo (and I'm being nice here!) for infra-red.
You know, like in infra-red light.
You know, like infra=Latin for under.
You know, like light with a wavelength of less than 0.8 micrometer.
(/flame mode)
And the sleepmode being a pain in the ass (is it illegal in Kentucky to say ass?), that could be true if you use the Windows sleepmode. My sleepmode BUTTON (you know, like in little thingy on your box to push) that is connected to my mobo does what it's designed for. In DOS, Windows, Linux or whatever OS, my sleep button doesn't give a ****.

Many (most?) motherboards have settings in the BIOS for turning the sleep feature of the power button off. I do personally prefer that when I push the power button for the computer to turn off.
Look around in the settings and you may find it.

What does ejaculated mean?

And in metric system that would be...?
My fault probably, but I don't waste my time measuring my biceps and chest...

Uhm... The IR port isn't a digitial/optical fiber connection, it's an infra-red LED and infra-red light-sensitive-resistor, both behind an infra-red transparent bit of plastic, most likely.
In other words, hardware-wise, it's a two-way version of the famous couch-potato tool, <angelic choir> The Remote Control </angelic choir>
