Hi

My desktop has a nice big USB-attached harddrive conected to it with plenty of free space. The same desktop is the only wiered connection to a wireless router, catering for the Internet needs of two laptops. It's Windows XP all around and the router is a NetGear DG834G.

Currently, transporting files involves either the "sneakernet" aproach with pen drives or the long winded method of e-mailing files around.

I'm thinking of setting up an FTP server on the main desktop to make life easier when it comes to getting files around. Is this a good idea? Is there a more sensible approach (shared network drives don't seem right as I don't need to share the whole HDD).

All opinoins welcome.
