One other thing to check:
Do an ifconfig on your apache server and look to see if there are many errors on the interface.

cleanbash ....... and the answer was ?
The reason I ask is if anyone else does a search on the boards for a similar issue they will have an idea of what solved the problem, thats all - and besides that I am curious too

I had a DNS problem and because it's a system to test I don't use DNS.
I renamed my resolv.conf (I don't like deleting config files).
