it wasnt my boot disk but it did have my swap on it and alot of music that i have collected as well as loads of other stuff it was an ntfs drive and didnt say anything as far as errors go except for SMART failure and a few corupt files every now and then if u have any links to recovery software please post them and thank you
Advice: Whenever you get a smart failure, even if your disk doe snot seem to be bad, backup your important stuff!
Out of curiosity what was the brand of the hdd?

The difficult thing with those big disks is that some recovery progs do not support them.
