You forgot to mention (though the # prompt shows that you knew it) that make install has to be run as root.
I did.

[email protected] # make
[email protected] # su -
<password for root>
[email protected] # make install
But your right. I forgot to mension that httpd.conf can only be edited by root. Thanks cgkanchi
