That's why I always say: "Never install add-ons that help you do something (ie. google/dap toolbars, etc...). They never do it for free, and you might end up stuck where advertisers want you. Do whatever you need to be done on your own, with no external help. It's not that hard and you're free to do it your way. =)

But not to seem a little too extreme, there are certain 'toolbars' that you can install: those you can see the source code (ie. Firefox customizable search toolbar), where you can actually see what it is doing and even change it if you see fit.
