hello antionline crew & members ,
a noob as i am , but a noob that wants to learn , i would like some information about the finger command , what are the possibilities of that command , what's the use of it , do you guys use it , and for what ... etc....

ok , i took a look at those links , thx a lot m8 for helping ,
a little question , so when i finger pierreke77@hotmail.com ( my e-mail ) it should work right ,
it should say : pierreke77 currently logged in for example , unless the hotmail admin has banned the finger command , to bad for me , bcuz i would like to give the finger command a try , any suggestions of a domain wich support finger ?

not many use finger servers anymore, it only gives potential intruders information you really don't want them to have:

hmm finger runs on port 79 not unless you have access to a hotmail server through port 79 mostly every server on the net has that port dissabled for security reasons you can also run finger commands from a shell like from port 23 (telnet) port 22 (ssh) if you dont have access *which im guessing you dont* you wont be able to finger a user on that system. Specificly, the finger command takes a username@machine.domainname as an argument and returns the contents of a file called .plan in said user's home directory. This is assuming such a file exists, the host is running fingerd. and you have access to the port. Hope this helps.
