Hi,
We are in a building. I'm in the fist floor. There is a printing lab on the second floor and a computer lab besides it from which you can send your printing stuff to those mentioned printers.
My suspension is that all the building makes one network.
Question: How can I send printing stuff from my office to those printers? Please look at the attached files for the information I got from the lab besides the printer lab (where you don't have problem sending prints).
The printers are not free so you need to use your card to pay for it so I'm not trying to do something illegally...!!!
Please let me know if you need more information.
By the way, I couldn't find those printers from my workstation obviously that I'm sending this message. So I'm wondering if I can find the address of those printers and set up a connection from my office manually...
Well theoretically it should work but it doesn't!
This is the port address:
oneprnsrv02.print.UNIVERSITY.ca:NREFQ
And this is the name of printer:
RICOH Aficio SP 8100DN PS
I set up a connection in my computer with these information but the printing page was not sent or was not received by the printer as I checked it....
I also enabled the sharing option but the name of printer still does not show up as I search from my office. Does it mean that's a separate network?
We have permissions set on certain colour printers.....maybe its a permissions thing??
How is the printer setup...is it a shared printer connected to another computer or is it plugged directly into the network??
Find out the IP and see if you can ping the printer??
This will tell you if you have connectivity.

There are two labs (or rooms if you like) sharing a wall. The printers I talk about are very big like photocopy machines in one room and there are bunch of computers in the neighbor room.
In the printing room there is only two monitors for two printing machines so that you need to swipe you card to login and select your file and click print so there is not keyboard, no case, no Windows in the printer room!
Download the driver you need (I am assuming windows)
Install new printer. Don't use the wizard
The host name is oneprnsrv02.print.UNIVERSITY.ca
The port name is NREFQ
Remember you are adding a local virtual printer.
When asked for printer type, browse to the location where you downloaded the drivers, select the location, choose next pick RICOH Aficio SP 8100DN PS from the list and finish the setup.
Unless there is security set up on the printer or print server (oneprnsrv02) this will work
