While we're on the subject of proxies w/ Linux, I also have a question.
I'm trying to set up a POP3 server at school using Mandrake Linux 7.0, is there anyway I can go through our proxy server (run on WinNT) and still have a real IP able to be seen from the net?
try http://www.squid-cache.org/
squid is great, fast, reliable and a whole lot more.

You can use iptables or ipchains to do proxying for you.
Nevyn357 - Are you using microsoft proxy 2.0? If you are you should be able to open up port 110 to allow traffic through, although it might not be that secure - you can add ssl encryption to pop/imap traffic easily enough.
heh, I'm not sure what version of the Proxy server we're running...I'll have to check w/ the comp lab teacher...
