Yea, I was going to suggest uninstalling Office and see if you still have the same problem. You're right, technically Office XP and Win XP should work together but this is Microsoft we're talking about here :) But yea, try a complete uninstall of Office since you said that it was the last package you put on. If you do run a registry cleaner, there are several out there that do a pretty good job - I've had pretty good luck with Ontrack's Easy Uninstall - it has a registry cleaner in it, seems to work pretty good.
SecurityAdmin, you said that you ran through all of the normal tech things. What exactly have you done or tried already?
