I got some wma's from a friend of mine, but the files are copyrighted.
I'm unable to play the files in muttiple programs inculding win media player.
I tried converting the files but it won't work. The converting programs won't read the files.
Can anyone help me on this? :confused:
Ok, let me start by saying "bad, bad, bad Dwarf!" ... you shouldn't be copying files!
Anyway, your friend probably recorded the files with Personal Rights Management enabled in Win MediaPlayer. To turn this off, go to
Tools -> Options -> CD Audio tab
and uncheck the box called "Enable personal rights management".
If this is the case, your friend should rerecord his files to be able to lend them to you ... so that you can then buy your own copy of the CD of course.

I just lost track of him. Is there a way how I can do this on my own?
Windows media player tells me, when I try to play them, that I must contact www.blabla.... to requist the licenses. I have a funny feeling I shouldn't do this. hehe

There’s a lesson in this thread always burn audio tracks to un-copyrighted mp3’s. Also never use Windows media player. <--spyware
WMAs take up more space than MP3 anyway.
Remember this one golden rule:
MP3 Rules.
(How many portable/personal WMA players do you see in the shops? Compare this to the multitude of MP3 players... Surely that tells you something?!)

I went to google, found 6 converters but none of them are able to load the copyrighted wma's. I think windows prevents programs from loading the copyrighted wma's. :rolleyes:
Does anyone know a program that prevents windows from preventing that wma's can't be load. :confused:

In that case, I dunno.
There's a Winamp plugin that allows you to play WMA files, I think...
As for whether it copes with copyrighted WMAs I don't know, since I only use MP3 files...
