hey!

Hey! there I hate to ask a stupid question but I am having a little trouble install my
hard-drive, does anyone know how?

put it in a open slot, set it to either master or slave on the primary IDE controller and boot it up and goto to CMOS and do an auto detect on IDE.

Need more details to be able to help you, what errors is is gaving you?

Well, if the BIOS isn't detecting the drive, check the jumpers on the hard drive ( if it's master/slave, can't be 2 devices with the same config. ) check witch channel are you connecting the drive ( primary/secundary ).

If the drive is detected and you can't format it, install software, create a partition using Fdisk or if it's a second drive your installing create a partition / format it using your OS.

But, Like I said need more info from you to be able to help you more, thou....

Screw it in an empty slot!
Connect the ide cable (the wide one with a red line on it) to the drive (red line on the first pin)
Connect the power cable to the drive
Go into the bios end auto detect the drive
Boot with a floppy and fdisk/format the drive
Put stuff on it

p.s. if it's an old computer, you may need a disk manager for large disks!

One way to remember where the pin one plugs into is to always have it facing the power plug on the hard drive.

[gloworange]I wouldn't ever use a disk mangler (yes i spelled it correctly). I would pay the 10 bucks for an IDE controller that supports large HDDs.[/gloworange]

hey maybe it's wise to check if they ide cable is'nt broke those things easily break if u treath them to hard
