Slow down your PC fan

Hi all,

this is not security related topic but I think that it is good to post it. Many of people hate the noise their computer makes. At least I do. If you have the same problem try SpeedFan program. Information about this prog and dowload version could be found here. Many of you probably know this stuff but for those who don't - it's a program that measures temperature of you processor, HDD etc. and because when your processor is not used (its temperature is descending) -> you(speedfan) can simply lower RPM of your cooler. When the temperature rises RPM rises. Simple and usefull!))) (work only on some exact motherboards but IMO it covers really large number of them so it should be no problem:))

btw you use this program on your own risc! but don't be scared I'm and my mates are using it and we are really satisfied... no processors were harmed:)

Hmmm, Didnt detect 1 of my Maxtor hard drives and all of the fans I have :)

I gave it a whirl but it looks a wee bit weird to me. The interface of it........ I don't exactly see the point of it..

I would love to use this. My PC sounds like a jet going doen the runway. Alas' I can't though, I just threw in another HDD and my proc is OC'ed from 950MHz to 1.1GHz. So I could fry an egg on it if I slowed down any of the fans. Still a good utility.

90ºC Max........ Attached is a Duron spec sheet zipped up .pdf.

I am not gonna be using the proggie to control my fans, I just am curious to see as how hot my CPU runs. I got a dual fan for the CPU, 2 case fans, and my power supply fan (of course). I just wanna see how hot everything runs, even though it should be nice and cool. :)

thanx for answer and atachment - I read that part about temperature and if I get it right I could have almost any temperature under 90degrees. (of course at higher temperatures will be processor less stable but won't get hurt) right? anyway greenies for you:)

yeah i dunno if it would be smart using this on an AMD.... u need as much cooling as possible, its not a myth, THEY WILL BURN!
