shell accounts
Due to software modem problems, i've had to set me up with a free shell account at phenix.rootshell.be and for my first time, i can surf the net with linux. i was just wondering what i can do with a shell account. it isn't really restricted because i can use telnet, ftp, and finger. but what else can i do?

Shell accounts rule.... u can download software and run it on the remote machine..... if you get in ssh and they inabled remote X u can even download programs witha GUI and run them.... this is great if the server wich the shell sits on has a fast internet connection so you can download big things really quick and then run them on that computer :) have fun

You can telnet to other computers and your IP will be that of the shell account's computer. It think that's pretty cool.
