what is it?(in winxp)
whenever i try to connect to internet from my windows xp my firewall tells me that
" generic Host processes for win 32 is trying to broadcast to [239.255.255.250 ] through port 1900 SSDP[simple service discovery protocol ] "
now if i dsiallow access to this program sometimes i can surf internet but sometimes outgoing traffic is there(from browser ) but no incoming signal hance no surfing .
so is this some spyware programm from microsoft or what ?

Generic Host Proccess (i think it shows up as svchost.exe in processes) is not a spyware program (so we think...). It is needed if you want to surf the net while on a windows box.

but i can surf many a time denying access to it.
