Linux has a partitioner that comes with it but I liked FIPS bettter. You need 3 partitions for linux. root /, boot, and swap. If you want to try FIPS you can download it here:

Hope this helps....

IMO partition magic is the best, you can get it anywhere they sell software.
there a couple freeware (gnu) tools available like: disk druid amd mips that arn't quite as easy to use.
disk druid does a real good job.
(sorry that fips not mips its been quit some time since ive used it)
hum could i use FTPS if i want to put WinME on both of my partition??

Your linux installation CD should have everything
you need to set up your system as a dual boot
with windows.
Take some time to read some of the docs on the CD.
When you run the installation process, it should
walk you through the partitioning of your drive.
I found it confusing the first time around, because
it assumes that you have read the documentation

FIPS wouldn't help for that. It is for re-sizing an existingQuote:

partition, to make space for another partition
so you don't have to destroy the OS already
on your system.
What you need is System Commander, or Boot Magic.
These are multi-boot loaders.

FIPS usually comes with LILO and most linux distros so you don't have to overwrite windows. I used to use partition magic, you should try it as well. It is pretty friendly and easy to use. If you don't want to have a heart attack because you are scared your windows and all your files were overwritten by linux, then just use partition magic. It is one of the best programs for partitioning an h/d.
Thanks for the info. guys/girls.
