Windows ME Winsock Issue
hey guys,
A friend of mine from another forum is having an issue with their system. It's a Dell and this issue has been going on for a month now and support has been no help. This Windows ME system will crash with the following:
N detect Kernel 32 dll
WSOCK2(01)+0000383B Error:0E:0028:D0AFB68B
WSOCK2(01)+0000383B Error:0E:0028:DOB3890B
WSOCK2(01)+0000383B Error:0E:0028:D0B096BB
NisserV Error USER.EXE
Now, from what it looks like to me the Winsock file has gotten messed up. I've told them to scan the system and make sure it was clean. Dell tells them to wipe the box and reinstall. Any other ideas?

Could be that a DLL that is needed by whatever USER.EXE is missing or corupted... Did your friend unistall something that could have shared the DLL with USER>EXE? If so then that may be where his problem lies... Hope this helps...

I've been looking for USER.EXE errors but so far have found nothing relating to Kernel32.DLL yet

Odd, this sort of thing bothered me as well, except it was when I had the W2.Supernova thing. I suggest he try to look in the registry.. I had a similar problem like this as well, and when I got SuperNova out, it stopped. Also, the W2.Supernova install's many little Hello-Kitty icon programs with various names.. After accidently opening Cheese-Burger.exe with the Hello-Kitty icon, that's when the problem started... So yeah, that's my advice. Hope I helped, if not, PM me and we can work on it.. -- Jason Copeland

havn't dealt to much with ME, but i would run the system file checker. user.exe and setup.exe tend to currupt easily, like with sudden shutdowns or sneazing too loud.

When she tries to run SFC she gets an error saying it's not there. Does Windows ME have SFC?
