I definately believe it's time to go into Iraq,but I don't think the Senate should follow anyone.If they feel it's time and there's sufficiant evidence against Iraq to wage war,then they should pass it.If they don't feel it's that time yet then they should vote against it.This has been a long drawn out process,and there's no reason for anybody to start following anybody elses lead now.
I didn't vote,because neither option fits my opinion.
heh...we aren't going to see JACK out of the Senate until the election is over.... especially with the problems in New Jersey. In the meantime, stay tuned for more stonewalling and finger-pointing from BOTH sides...business as usual on capitol hill.
I personally can't wait to see what comes out of the New Jersey mess. It would seem to me that the Democrats are stuck with Torricelli and that unless he can find a way to somehow make it clear to the people that if he were elected he would immediately appoint some other Democrat to the office they are SOL. In that case the Republicans would control the senate, and it may make more sense (from the democrats standpoint) to vote on the wording of the resolution prior to that happening.
It is really all a matter of time... I just hope the Bush administration can get the same cooperation from the UN so that the USA does not come out looking as bad in the eyes of the rest of the world. As much as I despise al gore he makes a valid point that our war on terrorism is extremely dependent on the cooperation of other nations. If we attack Iraq unilatterally, or even with Britian we stand to lose the support of the nations that are boarderline allys which may create more Afghanistan like environments for those "Coward Bastards" - (Geraldo Rivera's favorite words) to hide.
AND ANOTHER THING ! while I am on this rant... Now that Al Queda has learned to use PGP everyone is paranoid about the eminante cyber war we will have to face.. All I know is that if the cyber sh!t ever does hit the fan I know whose side I would want to be on! If I were a betting man, (which I am) I would lay the chalk on the US team and ride it all the way to the bank!!!
Well, I'm in the Army National Guard and have been for almost 2 years now, so I'm sure you can imagine I have quite an opinion about the subject. Odds are when we finally go to war with them, I will be activated since I'm extremely important on the battlefield as a 75B (Personell Administrative Specialist). As a 75B, I have MANY responsibilites, but on the battle field my main job is to make sure people who've died or become incopatictated get replaced.
With that said you get the idea of the chance that I'll be activated. I don't really want to go seeing as how I just got out of AIT (Advanced Individual Training) a few weeks ago and I'm just starting my life out on my own and don't want to leave it behind. But when we go to war and I get activated, I'll be willing and ready to do my part. I'll do my best that I can. I believe that something needs to be done about Saddam. Many Iraq citizens don't want war and are actually quite friendly with our troops who are already over there. I would hate to see people like them die (and our own of course!)....

Yeah, and when our same troops are bombing their leader, who do you think they will praise, US?? Lol, as sad as it is, these people are brainwashed. They will back saddam to death (martydom?). I think it is good that we are going into Iraq because, IMHO, it was a mistake to let them (Saddam) remain in power after Persian Gulf. Also, do you think that if the UN said No to Bush, that he would say fine? I think he'd go in either way, IMHO.

I think he means the troops that are in Kuwait and Saudi... cF_nM I don't think you have to worry to much about being activted just yet... (My wife is a 92M (Mortuary Affairs) and they just deactivated the reserve component 92M's... ) Unless they send the active division your NG unit is assigned to support you should be ok... So far the units that I know of that are slated to go over there are the 101st, elements of the 82nd, Special Forces of course, 2nd Armored Division, and the MAU that is in the gulf area right now... If you do have to go just remember what you were taught in basic and AIT and you'll do ok...
cF_nM> We have troops in mostly every part of the world though. Whether it is for base's or for just monitering, protection, etc etc, we still have troops in most parts of the world these days. I doubt the troops have daily conversations with Iraqi's to see if they like them or not. I think that the general population of Iraq don't like Americans in general.
