Someone has breached a Microsoft server, giving him access to beta-products and activation keys of those products. He wasn't able to get any source code.
The server in question houses Microsoft beta-products, and has about 20,000 user, testing that software. Microsoft states:

who cares about beta, everyone knows that the most valuable thing M$ owns is the source code for MS-DOS!!! lol :-)

A computer security breach on a Microsoft server has forced all of the company's beta testers to change their access identification and password, and has left some wondering about Microsoft's own computer security. See the extent of the problem on tonight's "Tech Live."
"We had a single intrusion," says Rick Miller, security spokesman for Microsoft. Miller says the intrusion happened "sometime last week," but he wouldn't be specific because a criminal investigation is under way.
Last Friday, Microsoft sent an email to more than 23,000 of its beta testers, saying that there was "a problem" and that new user IDs and passwords would be issued to access the company's Windows Beta website. The email and a similar posting made Friday on a message board Microsoft operates specifically for its beta testers made no mention of why the changes were necessary.
According to Miller, the intrusion happened only on the server operating the Windows Beta website, commonly know as "Betaplace." Beta testers around the world routinely access programs they are evaluating by logging onto the site using Passport, Microsoft's authentication service.
"At no point was Passport compromised by this, because it's a totally different system," Miller says.
The Windows Beta server is the main repository for nearly all software applications undergoing beta testing that use the Windows operating system. Miller says he doesn't know how many applications could have been compromised or how many applications or related software tools were on the server.
"The range varies from Windows XP RC-1, to the upcoming version of Windows Media, to programs currently under development that have not been made public and are confidential," Miller says.
"It makes me wonder how secure that server really is," says one Microsoft beta tester who didn't want to be identified. "We were right in the middle of beta testing its .Net server and that's going to be a centerpiece of Microsoft's future."
Miller says "the problem has been fixed," but he wouldn't elaborate on the extent of the fixes.
The real fun is getting out the source code for DOS.Then,Bill Gates can forget 'bout making it to the Forbes next time.
