Hey.
I need a program that will detect exactly what hardware I got in my computer and display it for me. Any suggestions?
(A program that does NOT take the information from the windows database is better)
Thanks

install any linux distro, log in (as root) and type lspci
All the info about your PCI - AGP and mobo (IDE bridge etc).
if you got ISA cards too, try pnpdump
Sisoft Sandra is a really neat utility. It's freeware but still nice.
http://www.sisoftware.demon.co.uk/sandra/
belarc advisor identifies all hardware, including motherboard, serial numbers, bus speed, BIOS, hotfixes, software, etc...
can be found at http://www.belarc.com/
A great windows utility that does a lot of CPU type identification is WCPUID available for free at http://www.h-oda.com/
I cast my vote for Belarc Advisor, very good tool
Belarc by far is the best
he windows built-in command is best.Type 'msinfo32 ' in the RUN key of Start menu.It will show u all the basic informaton that u need.As mentioned earlier SIsSoft Sandora is also good
Theres no need to install this should work with a bootable linux distro like knoppix, put it in boot it up bring the console, change to root and type the commands as suggestedQuote:
