Backing up systems
I run a Win XP pro box. 40gig HDD.
i was wondering how i can backup my systems without using a ton of cd's. i cant backup to another hdd.
is there other ways to backup the system.
hmm, bugger, i wanted to ask something else but its slipped my mind. if i remeber i will ask :)

There are some ways ,but they cost,... such as Movable Harddrives, Tape-drives, or... a server
but I think you already thought of those.
Just a small example of some back-up systems, but there are many more other brands.

It depends on what you need to back up, for example Adaptec Go-Back creates restore points by backing up the most essential files (%SystemRoot%, system32 and such) so you could try backing up your windows folder and when (if) something happens you can just restore it...

hmm, i was just wondering about this system restore thing with Win XP. it works really good and i havent had any trouble with it. except that if i repair windows or something major happens i lose all the restore points. what and where are these files. and can i just put these files on a cd and put them back where ever i got them from to restore a systeM?

Restore files are in your root drive (C:\ for most users) on a hidden folder called _RESTORE

kool. thanks i will do a bit of research and see if it brings me upto scratch if i can just save them files instead of the whole lot.
