Which Distro?

Well I am a newbie to Linux , and I know people get asked this question almost every day, But for a first time Linux User Which Distro should I use ? I hear Slackware from some , Redhat from Others and Mandrake from some.Im just confused , But right now i got my mind set on mandrake. Anyone have any other suggestions or opinions would be nice.

FreeBSD w/ linux compatibilty. Haven't found anything that won't run on it, yet.
