Muslium Sues for Veil On Licence

I think that this is a matter of security for America, and that her attempt to pull the rug up from under us, hiding behind her religious beliefs is utterly ridiculous.

This is a measure of policy, law, and security! In my opinion, I think that this excuse should have been thrown out a long time ago. Identification is based on the facial features that you possess. Furthermore, when an officer pulls you over and says. "May I see you licence and registration?" You're damn right I want him to recognise and be able to distinguish between the two. The people that come here to America should be aware of the consequences of doing so and be prepared for security measures that they may not feel ethical. It is the LAW therefore it must be OBEYED right? I'm in no way trying to attack people of different ethnic backround, culture, or race, I am simply saying she should be required to follow the regulations that all citizens must follow and not doing so is an attack on American security standards.

And for all you liberals, and self-acclaimed politcally correct people who disagree with me still get this....

Yeah, it would put the U.S in serious danger if we allowed people to do such. If she gets to do it, everyone will want to do it, it's just bad policy. Besides their own religion teaches that it is ok at certain times to lift the veil if it's for helpful purposes/good reason(i'm paraphrasing) so don't quote me. :p

As much as i respect her belief's, i think it's simple bad policy.

The whole point of the drivers licennse is for identification. how can you identify sopmebody with a veil on. she doesnt want to follow the law of the land she can leave

I agree with I guess everybody here. She needs to have her veil off during her picture for her license. She also needs to take it off when police pull her over so they can correctly identify her.

Actually, the case has already been decided. . . and she lost. .. the judge sited that a driver's license was a priveledge, not a right, therefore she had to follow the rules in getting one.

This is an old thread but I'm gonna throw my two cents in also... I think she should have to take the veil off. If Muslims were allowed to wear veils when they take their ID picture, how are they supposed to be identified? It's stupid. Suppose a crime was commited and the only discription an eye witness or a security camera could give would be a 5'6'' woman wearing a black veil. Hrmmm.... how many people would fit that profile?

The funny thing about this is that all Muslim countries require women to take off their vails in order to take photos for I.D.s and drivers liceances. But that lady who made such a big deal about this wouldn't know that since she was born here and became Muslim later on in life.

You know, I'm just really sick and tired of all these different groups wanting preferential treatment just because they or their beliefs don't fit into the mainstream. This is AMERICA. We speak ENGLISH here...be prepared to learn it or don't come. We have Laws that govern EVERYONE....don't think that because of your religious or ethnic background, your sexual orientation or whatever that you deserve to be treated differently from the rest of us. The Constitution clearly states that all men (and women IMO) are created EQUAL....no one person or group is better or worse than another and none are deserving of special treatment.
