PCI Firewall (NIC)
Hello all,
I was wondering if someone had some experience and suggestions for me on a fairly odd front. I am looking at the Firewall/NIC concept and am considering implementation. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them and what their opinions were?
I am looking at the 3com Embedded Firewalls (NICs). I do not know of any others that will fulfill the requirements I have for them. They are as follows:
1. Extranet/Remote management capable.
2. Security embedded on the individual server level (Shared Data Center).
3. Centralized management.
4. No more than $350/node.
Does anyone have suggestions?
Thanks all!

I have no direct experience with the 3om NIC firewalls, but in theory it should work fine. Because your NIC is the first point of contact on your machine, a good piece of firmware/software should be able to do the trick. Sounds like a good idea to me, post a review if you give it a try.
