My aunt brought some pictues over on a floppy drive, and when I tried to open it up it said there was no disc in the drive. Then the next time it told me the disc was not formatted.
I thought I'd try to get to the files from MS-DOS. but when I type a: or dir a: it says "data error: cyclic redundancy check."
Never seen that before. It lets me open up anyother disc but not that one.

If the floppy acts as the "film" for the camera, then you will probably need to install the software (supplied with the camera or downloadable) that enables your computer to read the data on the floppy.
That is, of course, assuming that the images on the floppy were put there by a camera and not a computer. Remember..the magnetic strips on your Aunts credit cards could possibly (remote possibility...) make the data on the disk unreadable if she perchance had the disk in her purse and parked beside those cards.
The data is stored in the floppy drive in .jpg format so I don't think I need a special program.
I guess she could of put it in her purse next to her credit cards. Who knows.

Try cleaning your drive....dirty heads are the most common problem when dealing with floppy drives.
(gore....just shut up!) :P
or the floppy drive gets somuch use that the Head assy won't move anymore..ie lack of use can also give prob with reading Floppies..
Could also be the writting FDD had a prob also..

As floppy drives wear, the heads can get out of alignment. It is common for a disk to be
perfectly readable in one machine but not in another, due to the fact that each drive
has its own wear tendencies. The bad thing is that the wear may be in the
drive that wrote the data, and your drive be ok, but Your computer is the
one to fail to read the disk.
Floppies are simply unreliable. See if the files can be put on another disk, and
try again.
