changing host (i think?)
ok i can't remember the name of file in windows which stores the addy for websites you specify - there was a prob with NFG had had some of the entries in it changed and was making google.com point at something else but can't remember name of file/post to search....anyone help?

Windows or *nix?
Windows NT/2000/XP: should be, IIRC, under <winnt>/system32/drivers/etc/
*nix: usually /etc directory

MsMittens is correct. Once you open the file scroll down and delete all lines with google in them. Because, you may have google.uk, google.ru, google.net and so on so you simply delete the line and save the page.

in win9x, it is located in
c:\windows\hosts
c:\windows\lmhosts

I was wrong about the other info.. see msmittens post below.

lmhosts is for Netbios to IP addressing (used with WINS server)
hosts is for DNS to IP addressing (used with DNS server)
They are not the same. If this is for DNS (Internet addresses), then use hosts. If it's for NetBIOS (lan), use lmhosts.
