Windows Programming With C

I am interested in creating windows programms with C or even C++, if anyone has any links or suggestions that they could offer that would be awesome. I run Win98 w/VC++ compiler.
Also does anyone know how to just get that black/shell/dos looking screen to not show... anyways please help.

pls use the search facility provided by antionline...and u will find loads of links to tutes or books/sites...etc...also seems u havent asked 'Sir Google'....pls do it before asking here.
