Topogilinux
I searched to see if this had been posted before but didn't get any matches.
For many people who don't want to actually install *nix on their machine, but wanted to use it, their only option was to use knoppix. However knoppix sometimes was slow, and for some people didn't work.
After reading the Linux Format magazine, I came across a different kind of *nix called Topogilinux. What Topogilinux does it creates a large file in your windows partition (at least 2.5GB) and installs the necessary files to there. Then, when you want to run Linux you just put the topogilinux cd in the cd rom, boot from it, and it boots straight into *nix. If you want to go back to windows, just take the CD out of the machine and reboot. Its as simple as that.
Heres the web address for it.

I haven't tried it yet myself, but I will once I get the chance.

You know...that was the only reason why i didn't like knoppix. It was slow.
I'll definately check this out!
thanks again for the link :D

Yeah I have Knoppix Live cd, and I had problems with it.
It was slow because it ran off of the CD. Now they say that topogilinux isn't as fast as a regular distro, but I would imagine that its definitely faster than knoppix.
Also if you can spare 4GB of space you have enough room to do just about anything.

I dunno, it seems like all the Live Cd's are based off the same thing w/ different packages. I saw this topo-thingie while I was searching for Live CD's at work today. . .looks to me like tha same thing that Mandrake did w/ ther try it now in a windows part but it'll run a lot slower. . .MO though.

Yeah they did say it would run a bit slower than if you partitioned space for a different linux distro, but I like this because for people who are not sure about partioning their diskspace correctly, its a lot easier using this.
I do think this will be faster than a Live CD though. I'm guessing that it works by reading the CD, then the CD tells the computer to look to the folder it created and boot from that.

There's also a nothe live distro called Adios Linux
Here is the link to Adios Project page http://dc.qut.edu.au/adios/
