I know that PPPoE is a protocol. How is it different from a TCP/IP?
Which protocol is better if you are using DSL conneciton? I just need to be educated here. Thanks :)

google discribes pppoe as Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet.
For more info read the rfc documents ( RFC 2516 ) from here
http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2516.html
hope that helps
PPoE is peer to peer over ethernet. Its similar to dial up (PPP) but since its over ethernet, its a bit different. Most DSL services use PPPoE. With DSL, you still "dial up" but into high speed lines. Where with cable, its always on.
TCP/IP is just the protocol used to communicate with the internet.
This is going to be true for all internet services.
You may want to browse this site they cover data communications protocols and functions
http://www.protocols.com
Jep, PPP makes it possible for other protocols to be used over phone lines.
PPPoE, like phishpreek says is often used in DSL connections.
Hey yall, i just got DSL tonite ya!!! ( i had dial up, i hated it!) is there anything i should know about protecting myself, common tips etc..... thanx bye! tyler.
