error = 80040265 windows media player

hi guys

Im using win2000. Some of the dat movie files (avseq01.dat and stuffs like that) are not working with windows media player and shows the following error message.
media format not supported. (error = 80040265)

Strangely the same files work perfectly in windows 98se.

Help me plz.......

For any future reference , win2000 sp4 solved the problem.
