Microsoft and Supercomputing.

I know this may be old news to some, but Microsoft is planning on bringing out an OS that is made for clustering computers together. This is a good thing (sounds wierd I know). Think about it, if you don't have much competition, as Linux really doesn't in this department your product won't advance and mature as quickly as it could. I loathe some of Microsoft's practices but you do have to hand it to them, they do help provide an incentive for open source writers out there to advance technology to either keep up with or outpace Microsoft. Folks like Cray ( http://www.cray.com/products/profservices/ ) and SGI (http://www.sgi.com/products/) already have 'commercial' Linux supercomputer (HPC/HIPC) architectures that are in production and in use around the globe for serious computing projects.
For the Redmond Gang's sake, I hope they don't come out with a monstrosity of PeeCee's daisy chained together that requires the obligatory after-hours reboot to keep running.

They have never dealt with 'real' computers before though, so I am interested to see if they pull it off; lord knows they have the green.
