Hello Friends,
I donno what setting I played with but my Internet Explorer is not allowing me to see https:// pages. It just show Can not find server... whenever I click to open such pages. Also CuteFTP or DOS FTP is not working. On trying to connect it says Unknown Connect Error.
Any help will be highly appreciated, I work on Xp, IE 6.

First off, are you sure the https pages you want exist as https (SSL)? IF so, go back to your IE settings, and load the 'default' settings, then change em again to your likings one by one, trying in between if the SSL does work or not. Be sure to try it on a site where the SSL is enabled. Hope this helps you.

CuteFTP and DOS FTP are not at all related to IE so you have additional issues besides mucking around with IE settings. What else did you change? Can you browse "regular" websites? (i.e. http://www.broken.com).
Telling us *everything* that you touched will help narrow down the issue.
This is also one of my unsolved problems, mainly because it is on my boss's home machine. _Nothing_ I did would bring up ssl pages. I took the security down to zero and it still wouldn't show them. Since Boss's hubby was all up in arms about getting to his accounts etc. I installed Opera and left.... :o
I have no idea what their teenage daughter did but the box looked to be all in order, I removed s bunch of spyware and three instances of a trojan but they were all pretty "normal" stuff for a teenie's machine.
I even upgraded from IE 5.5 to 6.0 and that didn't work. Short of doing a re-install I was out of ideas.
No matter wht I do nothing worked. I had tried changing SSL etc changing to default. Yes I cant get CuteFTP or any other FTP working either, while on my other partition with same OS I can use the secure pages. I am able to browse normal pages like Antionline.com but with http and ftp donno wht happened. Like Tiger Shark I am thinking abt switching to opera but will it solve the FTP problem. May be I need to reformat and reinstall everything.... :(

What internet connection do you have? DSL or Cable? Also, are you behind a router?
Does https work on a different port than 80? Could it be a firewall issue?
https is 443?
Those symptoms are indicative of a pass-through hijacker.....
Look in your HJT log, and check for 013 entries similar to this:
O13 - DefaultPrefix: http://www.nkvd.us/1507/
O13 - WWW Prefix: http://www.nkvd.us/1507/
O13 - Home Prefix: http://www.nkvd.us/1507/
O13 - Mosaic Prefix: http://www.nkvd.us/1507/
They don't necessarily have to be an nkvd issue, but anything in the 013 section indicates a hijack, and should always be fixed.
There will be other elements that go with this, but it should give you a place to start. :D
EDIT: In this instance, this is a CWS infection that the shredder will remove. It will not remove the 013 entries, they still have to be removed manually. :thumbsup:
I am not sure if you already tried this but I would go to:
Tools -- Internet Options -- Advanced (tabbed) -- Scroll about halfway down and you come to your security settings. Sometimes your security settings will get reconfigured if you changed something in the 'Security (tabbed).'
If this doesn't work I would check for spyware/viruses
If it still doesn't work I would try to uninstall IE and reload the new version.

Tried that.... Took all the advanced setting to the minimum, upgraded to IE 6.0 from 5.5, (uninstalling IE is not an option, it can't be done completely and properly since it is too tied to the OS.
